Making the most of the Fair
There will be lots of competition for jobs on offer at the Autumn Graduate Fair so you must make sure that you stand out from the crowd. There will be thousands of other visitors at the event so it is vital that you make the right first impression.
Be Prepared
Research the companies you are most interested in talking to so that you can impress them with your knowledge. Many exhibitors comment that this is one of the most common things visitors fail to do.
What's Expected
Most recruiters expect you to know what they do and expect you to be able to sell yourself to them. They are asked hundreds of times by students "So what do you do?" and it can become rather frustrating!
The best way to start a conversation with a recruiter is to tell them what you already know about them and why you want to work for them.
Then ask them your prepared questions.
Practice
Think about what you are going to say when you approach an employer - first impressions count and if you can start the conversation with a few intelligent questions then they are more likely to remember you, so practice a few ice-breakers in advance.
Don't Rush In
Make sure that you don't rush up to your favourite employer before you are comfortable with what you are going to say. Speak to a few other employers first and you will be prepared for the types of questions they may ask you in return.
